# Title
Educational NLP with a focus on argumentative texts
# Abstract
In this talk, I will present ongoing research from the Educational Natural Language Processing group in Kiel, focusing on how NLP tools can support both students and teachers in writing and grading argumentative texts. Specifically, I will discuss experiments conducted on the English-language PERSUADE and MEWS datasets, as well as the German-language DARIUS dataset. These experiments explore several dimensions: beyond evaluating scoring performance, we examine the fairness of automated grading algorithms and the cross-linguistic and cross-cultural transferability of these algorithms when applied to texts written by students from Germany and the United States, in both L1 and L2 contexts.
External participants (i.e. neither students nor employees of LUH) are kindly requested to send a short, informal email to office@ai.uni-hannover.de to register.
