AutoML Co-Designer is an ERC Proof of Concept project that develops a collaborative framework for accelerated AI development. The project aims to transform Automated Machine Learning from a rigid black-box tool into an interactive system that supports cooperation between AutoML methods and human experts.
The framework enables AI developers to include domain knowledge, steer optimization processes, and consider practical goals such as robustness, efficiency, interpretability and regulatory requirements. This helps teams build better and more trustworthy AI models faster.
The project will develop and validate an open-source prototype that combines interactive AutoML, explainability methods and LLM-based interfaces. The goal is to demonstrate a new paradigm for human-centered AI development and prepare the pathway towards future commercialization.
