March was a month to celebrate for the AutoML group, as two of our PhD students successfully defended their dissertations and earned their doctorates. We are incredibly proud of both of them and grateful for the time and energy they dedicated to the group.
Dr. Carolin B. defended her thesis on "Advances in Bayesian Optimization: Methods, Applications and Comprehensive Benchmarking," and Dr. Difan Deng his dissertation titled "Neural Architecture Search Space Design: From Coarse to Fine-Grained." Both have left a real mark on the group and will be sorely missed.
Congratulations to both of you, we have loved having you with us and are excited to see where your paths take you next!
